Being a Judge is a Tough Gig
On the 16th July, I joined my five fellow judges to short-list the nominations for all seven categories of the Young Leader awards. It was wonderful to see so many nominations from both academic departments and professional services.
The standard of the submissions was really high and the breadth of the different job roles meant that the judging was quite challenging. Now you might imagine that our judging was reflective of the panels found on the X Factor or Britain’s Got Talent. Unfortunately not, it was not nearly so dramatic; there were no tantrums or insult throwing dramas although we did fight our corner for those submissions we wanted to make it on to the shortlist.
So who has made it through? University Business will be announcing the short-list today. To find out who’s made it through click www.ylawards.com
Personally I would like to congratulate all those who were nominated for an award and the contribution you have made to this wonderful celebration of young talent working within the HE sector. I know I speak for all the judges when I say that we were impressed by the reach and impact you have not just to students but the local community and businesses both here at home and abroad.
For those that have been successful I look forward to meeting you at the Awards Ceremony on the 4th November.
